So, i did some research. The squid probably isn't alive(which is beside the point). The movement is caused by the sodium in the soy sauce interacting with the exposed muscle cells. It's all the cells need to start using up unused ATP(the stuff that fuels our cells). And THAT'S what causes the twitching.
You can do the same thing with raw frog legs(a popular trick). Google "twitching frog legs".
Still, none of that changes the fact that it''s gross as hell.

The same thing can be done to a fresh piece of the heart. It was weird to see them pour salt water on the piece of heart and it started contracting and expanding like it was still beating.

Well, if you tihink about it, it is, and it isint. Because zombies eat flesh, with contains the vitamins and such to keep them alive, but with this, the person is useing artificial fuel(sodium) to power it.
